Ras Al Khaimah is the most northerly of the United Arab Emirates, and covers an area of approximately 1,700 square kilometres. A fertile and scenic region, Ras Al Khaimah offers a dramatic topography formed by the Hajjar Mountains on one side, and the blue waters of the Arabian Gulf on the other.
Recent years have seen considerable development throughout Ras Al Khaimah, and today it is a modern emirate, equipped with a full range of amenities including international schools and state of the art hospitals. Considerable linksforts have been made towards improving the infrastructure of Ras Al Khaimah, which has gone a long way to improving the overall commercial appeal to companies and major corporations.
The major factor in the development of the region was the declaration of Ras Al Khaimah as a Free Zone. This development offered companies who were considering locating to the region a large number of benlinksits including permission for 100% foreign ownership, and a total exemption from either personal or corporate taxation. As importantly, free zone status allows for rapid visa processing, ensuring that the recruitment of skilled labour from outside the UAE was a much quicker and easier process.
As well as the Free Trade declaration, the Ras Al Khaimah Free Trade Zone also changed the way that Free Trade Zones are set up in the UAE by dividing the zone into a series of ‘parks’ aligned by specific business functions and objectives. The result of this process of commercial alignment has been the launch of the Business Park, The Industrial Park and The Technology Park in Ras Al Khaimah.
Recent years have seen a large number of landmark property developments in the emirate, which have proven commercially successful due to the high demand for property in Ras Al Khaimah. In particular, the launch of the new man made island development at Al Marjan Island has put Ras Al Khaimah on the global property investment map, and has attracted the attentions of major property investors looking to maximise the opportunities in the UAE.
